TTE® PAVE – Robust traffic surfaces with 100% permeability

An innovative construction principle that combines permeable pavers with the water storage function of an infiltration trench. This allows even heavy precipitation to be absorbed in a fully decentralised manner.

Permeable pavers & infiltration trench in one – Manage heavy precipitation predictably and safely

Conventional water-permeable paving, such as permeable pavers and drainage pavers, are limited in terms of their permeability. Due to the fine pores in the joint filling of the permeable pavers or the concrete itself – paving stones made of porous concrete – the infiltration capacity decreases significantly, particularly after a certain period of use. Often, this means that only a small amount of heavy precipitation can be absorbed. However, for flood prevention it is crucial to reduce peak runoff.

TTE® PAVE features completely open joints as well as drainage channels and cavities, which enable a seepage capacity of 328,000 l/s*ha (average precipitation in Germany = 270 l/s*ha). Its permeability is hundreds to thousands of times higher than that of standard seepage-capable paving stones. This eliminates additional drainage measures. The special composite paving plates distribute the load over a wide area. This preserves the permeability of the soil, and coarse-pored gravel mixtures can be used. These combine the function of a base course with that of an infiltration trench that stores water. By doing this, the TTE® Construction Principle PAVE 2 enables a storage capacity of more than 100 l/m², for example. Extreme rainfall events can be buffered temporarily in poorly permeable soils and seep into the subsoil with a time delay.

Innovative connection system combines high load-bearing capacity & complete permeability

Full-surface seepage is the most efficient and simplest method for flood prevention. However, commercially available water-permeable paving stones have a low load-bearing capacity and are only able to absorb shear forces to a limited extent. Therefore, they are only used in stationary and low-traffic areas without heavy traffic. The possible percentage of water-permeable surfaces as compared to the total traffic surfaces is thus severely limited.

High traffic loads require paving that is resistant to pressure and shear forces. TTE® PAVE is approved for loads caused by heavy traffic. The interlocking tongue-and-groove joint allows for three-dimensional load transfer. In this manner, vertical compressive forces are transmitted and distributed to the adjacent composite plates, and shear forces are safely absorbed by the interlocking joints. TTE® PAVE is therefore not just seepage-capable paving with a high permeability and retention capacity, but it is also suitable for a wide range of applications. Sealed surfaces are thus reduced to a minimum.

TTE® directPAVE – ready-made solution for laying by machine

We do the work for you and fill TTE® MultidrainPLUS with TTE® paving stones at the factory. This allows water-permeable paved areas to be laid quickly and easily, whether by machine or by hand. Not only does this save considerable time and effort, it also makes the solution more economical. Ideal in combination with our pre-greened TTE® directGREEN.
